Our eco-design approach for our corporate website
The DK site has been eco-designed as part of a responsible digital approach, which means that it has been designed to minimize its environmental impact while offering an optimal user experience. This approach is based on several key principles:
Ressources Optimisation:
The site uses lightweight, efficient technologies that reduce energy consumption during page loading. This includes compressing images, minimizing CSS and JavaScript files, and using energy-efficient hosting.
Concretely? 🌱
We developed only what we needed, with customized themes and integrations and very few effects. For example, no parallax but minimalist transitions.
For typography, we minimized the number (2 in total) and fatness of the fonts.
No use of videos
For images, we chose to compress them and above all to use as many illustrations as possible.
CO2 reduction:
By reducing the weight of web pages and optimizing processes, the site limits the carbon footprint associated with its use, thus helping to reduce CO2 emissions.
How is a kg or g of CO2 measured?
We host a badge on our site that automatically calculates and displays the carbon emissions of a web browsing.
Accessibility and inclusion:
The site's design takes into account the needs of all users, including those with slow internet connections or less powerful devices. This reduces the need to purchase new equipment, prolonging its lifespan and reducing electronic waste. We have also worked on accessibility for disabled people.
Sustainability:
The site is designed to be sustainable over time, facilitating updates and avoiding rapid obsolescence. This translates into a flexible, scalable architecture that meets current needs while being ready for future evolutions. We also created a tailor-made CMS to avoid the need for unnecessary plug-ins.
In short, the DK site incorporates eco-responsible practices in its design and operation, aligned with the principles of responsible digital, aimed at reducing its environmental impact while maintaining a high level of performance and accessibility for users.
